Dream Machines was a performance lecture which took place on swan pedalos at Stratford Olympic Park, 01/09/24. It was inspired by a silver swan automata from the 1700s, in the collection of The Bowes Museum. In the lecture, Moss spoke about mechanisms, industrialisation, Dada and automata. To bring visual material into the lecture, she introduced ‘The Hugo Ball’ - a football covered in Dada artworks, and was assisted from the river bank by two current TOMA students (an alternative MA art course in Essex.) The documentation of the lecture was turned into a new video work, which will be exhibited at The Bowes Museum in early 2027. The project was supported by The Dover Prize, based in the North-east of England.
